Healthy Treats to Satisfy Your Cravings

Whilst health is all about balance, you might be looking to make more nutritious choices when it comes to satisfying your sweet tooth instead of always reaching for the biscuit tin! See below our favourite ideas for delicious sweet treats that also boast a range of health benefits, meaning you can hit those cravings and give your body a boost of nutrients at the same time. What’s not to love?

  • Yogurt and granola

This is one of our favourite choices for a really satisfying sweet treat. Choose your favourite Greek or low-fat fruity yogurt and add a handful of granola for some crunch!

  • Square of dark chocolate

Because sometimes only chocolate will do! And for those times, a couple of squares of dark chocolate can feel super indulgent and satisfying. Best of all, dark chocolate contains powerful antioxidants and could even reduce heart disease risk.

  • Fruit flapjacks (homemade)

A quick search online and you’ll find plenty find loads of quick and easy recipes for homemade flapjacks. Traditional flapjacks can be laden with golden syrup, so we suggest you sweeten them up with dried fruit and honey instead. These can be just as tasty and are much better for you! Just substitute them into the recipe you use.

  • Healthier nibbles

Instead of nibbling on crisps or biscuits when you fancy a snack, make yourself a healthy snack platter of fruit and nuts! This is great for when you’re sat working or watching a film and fancy a little something to last.

  • Healthy fats smoothie

Get 2-3 pieces of fruit (frozen berries are cheap and taste delicious in smoothies) and place in your blender. Add a dollop of yogurt and a large spoonful of your favourite nut butter- our favourites and almond and peanut butter. These smoothies have a comprehensive overall nutritional profile, and even better they taste great – especially on a summer’s day.

  • Banana muffins

Don’t let your overripe bananas go to waste! Rustle up some delicious banana muffins that are super tasty and satisfying. The bananas add a lot of sweetness to the muffins, meaning you don’t need to add too much sugar. Again, there are lots of recipes online for these quick and easy treats.
